What to Expect?

How it works is pretty simple:

  1. Choose which event you'd like to do — you can select from bath bombs (for kids or adults) or candle-pouring (adults only).

  2. Book your event using our booking site.

  3. Your event coordinator will contact you within 72 hours to go over everything and finalize your arrangements.

  4. Choose your favors/add-ons, if any. You could have bars of soap, mystery boxes, or other products, and custom labeling is an option.

  5. If you want to have food and beverages, you'll need to arrange that separately. You can use our fridge to store your goodies and our little kitchenette for your catering. We do have some paper plates, disposable cups, napkins, and plastic utensils on hand.

  6. Show up to the scheduled event and have a good time! Your teacher/guide/facilitator — assigned from our staff — will guide you through the entire process.

Time Allocation

Our business hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., seven days a week.
The hands-on crafting portion of an event usually takes 1-2 hours.
We allocate three hours for a standard party/event, allowing time for the social bits as well.

Events scheduled outside of our normal business hours will incur a flat after-hours fee of $35.00 as an add-on charge.

Favors, Extras, and Add-Ons.

We have a number of options for favors and add-ons, including bars of soap in various sizes and our popular Mystery Boxes. When your event coordinator contacts you to finalize your arrangements, they will go over the options and pricing with you.

Bath Bomb Parties

Participants, under the guidance and instruction of our expert staff, will choose a scent, mix ingredients, shape their very own 5 bath bombs, and then decorate them — creating a truly custom product to take home.

Bath bombs are ready to go — though slightly fragile — almost immediately after they’re made. You will definitely be able to take these with you when you leave at the end of your event. We'll even package them for you!

Candle-Pouring Experience

Participants will select a candle vessel from the variety we have in stock, sample several fragrances and blend their own unique scent from them, and then — under the instruction of our pros — pour their very own candle using our high-quality, clean-burning soy wax.

Candles require 2-3 hours after pouring before they’re able to be moved. You will probably need to come back for your candle after the event, and — depending on the timing of your pouring event — potentially on an entirely different day.

You may also choose to have it shipped to you — useful for those who live out of area — for a flat $9.95 shipping fee to addresses within the contiguous 48 United States.

Fun For All Occasions!

Our events are great for birthdays, bridal & baby showers, fun nights out, company team-building, and more!

“We booked a girls’ night out candle pouring party and had a wonderful time. The place has a chill sort of vibe, and the staff was friendly. We got to pick our own containers from a variety on hand, sampled a bunch of scents, and created our own blends for our candles. It was a great experience, and I’ll remember it every time I burn the candle I made.”

FAQ Accordion

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs):
General

Can I just walk in at any time and do a class or make something?

Sorry, no. At this time, our business is not configured to accommodate that. In the future, if classes and parties turn out to be a successful venture, we will revisit this and possible open things up for spontaneous maker experiences.

How much advance notice do you need for reservations?

We ask that you book your party or event at least two weeks in advance. This allows ample time for us to arrange staffing and make preparations for your big day.

How many people can I have at my party?

Our party space can accommodate up to ten people comfortably at the making table. The pricing of our party packages is based on 5-10 participants. This does not include parents/guests who are not participating in the crafting part of the event.

What if I have more than ten people?

As mentioned above, our event space can only accommodate a maximum of 10 participants. We're working on maximizing the space to add a few more seats, but for now, we're limited to 10.

Who will be the instructor/facilitator for my event?

We have a few staff members who teach classes and lead party events. It will basically be whoever is available. If there is a specific staff member you prefer, we can try to get them to do the event for you. We can’t make any promises on this, though.

What products can I make?

At the moment, we offer a candle pouring experience (for adults), and a bath bomb making session (for adults and kids) in which you will mix, shape, and decorate 5 bath bombs. We will definitely add more items in the future!

Do you serve refreshments?

We do not serve refreshments, but you are welcome to bring your own.

Can I have food delivered, or have my event catered?

Yes, you can, but it’s not a service we provide. You would have to arrange that separately. We will, however, gladly put your food away in our kitchenette to await your arrival. We have a fridge, a microwave, a kitchen range with oven, and a water cooler you or your caterer are welcome to use.

Can I include alcohol in the refreshments for my party?

For an adults-only party, yes, you can bring beer or wine. We cannot provide it, nor can we serve it. It’s a strictly BYOB situation, and we will not be held responsible for any poor decisions which may ensue. Please do not drink and drive… and probably better to avoid drinking and texting, too.

Can I decorate for the party?

Yes, you may, within reason.

Are there restrooms on the premises?

Yes, we have restrooms for event guests to use.

Where are these events held?

Classes, workshops, and parties are held at our factory location in the Cape May County airport complex in Erma/Rio Grande, about 3 miles outside of Cape May City.

The address is:
A Place on Earth
1250 Hornet Road
Rio Grande, NJ 08242.

If you're familiar with Cape May Brewery, we're in the same building.

What are the hours for parties/events?

Our factory location, where the event space is located, is open 10 a.m.-5 p.m., 7 days per week. After-hours events can be arranged with sufficient notice, and an additional flat charge of $35 will apply.

How long can we use the room?

We block out three hours for a party.

I have questions about my party or event. Who do I contact?

You can email events@aplaceonearth.com, or call the factory location at 609-600-3339 during our normal business hours, which are 10 a.m.-5 p.m., 7 days/week.

Are party favors or add-on products and services available?

Yes! We have a variety of favor items available for your party or event — bars of soap, mystery boxes, and more! Ask us about it when we contact you to go over your event options.

Can you accommodate people with allergies?

We can certainly try! Let us know in advance, when we go over your party options, if there are any known allergies. We can accommodate some, by excluding certain fragrances, for example. Others may be impossible to accommodate due to the nature of the product and the workspace. We’ll do our best, though.

Are there any perks for people who book or attend your parties?

Yes! A fun time and a cool, custom product! Also, you and your guests will enjoy a 15% discount on all purchases made while you’re here for the event.

Minors must be at least 15 years of age to participate independently in a candle pouring event. We require one supervising adult per participating minor. All persons under 18 years of age will need a parent or legal guardian to sign a liability waiver before participating in candle pouring.
