Please Help Us Recover From Water Damage
Posted by Staff Writer on 12th Feb 2026
Last Monday, February 9th, we walked into something no small business owner ever wants to see.
A freeze-induced water main rupture caused significant flooding in our factory — soaking floors and drywall, damaging equipment, contaminating raw materials, and bringing production to an immediate halt.

For a large corporation, this would be a setback.
For a small, family-run business like ours, it’s devastating.
We are not a big brand backed by investors. We are a small team — family-owned, hands-on, and deeply involved in every batch of soap, every poured candle, every whipped sugar scrub.
When something like this happens, it hits us personally, financially, and emotionally.
After spending the past few days cleaning up, we've got most of the standing water out. It doesn't look like much has happened, but our carpets and drywall are waterlogged, and black mold is growing by the moment. In the next few days, we will need to shut down and move out of the factory until repairs and remediation are completed.
While we do carry insurance (because we believe in doing things responsibly), insurance does not cover everything. Expenses for the remediation of water damage quickly add up to more than the limits of our coverage:
- Lost inventory
- Destroyed raw materials
- Production downtime
- Deductibles
- Temporary relocation costs
- Cleanup beyond basic remediation
- Missed wholesale orders
- Lost retail revenue
And perhaps the hardest cost of all: time.
Every day our factory is not fully operational, we are falling behind on orders, restocks, and new launches we’ve worked months to plan.
We’ve always built this business around love, kindness, and ethical practices. We are proud to be a small family company creating vegan-friendly, cruelty-free products that bring joy to people’s lives.
Now, we’re asking for help to protect what we’ve built.
Your support will go directly toward:
- Professional remediation and sanitation
- Replacing damaged equipment and supplies
- Restocking raw materials
- Covering payroll during downtime
- Getting our production space safely back up and running
We are committed to transparency and will share updates throughout the process.
If you’ve ever enjoyed one of our soaps, lit one of our candles, or gifted one of our sugar scrubs — please know that you are part of our story.
Small businesses don’t have large safety nets. We have community.
And right now, we are leaning on ours. If you are so inclined and it's within your means, we would appreciate any help and support our community can offer. If you can't help financially, please consider sharing the link to our fundraiser to put it in front of more eyes.
From the bottom of our hearts — thank you.
With gratitude,
