ALL OUR FRESH HANDMADE SOAPS ARE NOW BIGGER AND BETTER!
All soaps are 5.5oz and cost $7.50 each
Making soap is like following a recipe for pastry and turning it into a pie. Soap is made up of three basic ingredients: water, lye, and fats (oils). When a lye-and-water solution is mixed with fats, a reaction takes place between the hydrogen, oxygen, sodium, and fatty acid molecules. This is called saponification, and the end result is a substance that is made up of five parts soap and one part glycerin. Glycerin – a rich emollient prized for its ability to soften the skin is retained in handmade soap but in commercial soap it is extracted, leaving behind the hard, drying bars of soap we purchase in stores and supermarkets.
Our soap is made in the gentle seaside community of Cape May, NJ. By bringing soap making into the twenty-first century, we are reviving a lost art form, steeped in tradition. Our soaps are hand-stirred, cured in wooden molds, and hand-cut. The blended ingredients are a reminder of the natural world around us.
Our soaps are scented with essential oils including cinnamon, patchouli and lemon. Our products are thoroughly field tested by patient family and friends. We are dedicated to the quality of our product and the quality of our planet. We will not compromise either one.
We use only plant life: oils of olive, coconut palm and other vegetable-based ingredients. Then we mix in organic botanicals, like lavender flowers, ground oats, rosemary, and cornmeal. Enjoy!
